SUMMARY:
The story begins in a
decaying town named Macondo that has suffered the bad luck of difficult and
terrible times. The principal event of
the story is the apparition of the dead body of town’s doctor. A person who contrary that you may think is
the person more hated for the whole town because of his egoism with the town’s
people in difficult times. The story has three important characters of
different ages which have a relationship with the dead doctor and tells us all
the problems that appear during his burial and funeral while showing us the
problems of the town faces; and its last days.
RECOMMENDATION:
Gabriel Garcia Marquez was born
on March 6, 1927 in Colombia. He was a famous writer, novelist,
short story writer, screenwriter, and journalist. Marquez received the Nobel
Prize for Literature in 1982, specially for his novels and short stories. His
books had a mix of fantasy and reality. Marquez also includes in his stories
and novels the life and conflicts of the whole world. Furthermore, the majority
of his work show us themes like love, the influence of Caribbean culture and
loneliness. His work One Hundred
Years of Solitude was ranked as one of the most important works of the Spanish
language.
